Dr. D. Roukos, studied Medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in general Surgery at the J.W.Goethe-University Hospital in Frankfurt a.M., Germany , where he received Dr. med. He moved back to Greece and since 1990 works at the Ioannina University School of Medicine. Research interest has been in prevention and multidisciplinary treatment of familial and sporadic gastric cancer and breast cancer. Currently, he has been focused on novel molecular therapies and multigene assay-based prediction and response to specific cancer therapy.

Dr. Roukos, translating his own D2-N2-lymphadenectomy concept on 210 gastric cancer patients, has been influenced surgeons' decisions worldwide. First publication: Surgery 1998; 123(5):573-8.
